1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe Drag

In the late 1980’s I owned a 1986 Thunderbird Turbocoupe. However, I really wanted a 1987/1988 Turbocoupe with the new nose and look. Couldn’t afford the real car so I built a dream TC using the 1985 Thunderbird Prostock base and 1987 Turbocoupe body and misc pieces, turbos, etc. I really liked this build and continue to today. I didn’t open the doors but did open the trunk sideways, built a dual turbo setup and quite a bit of detailing.

Trunk view shows the normal pro stock rear area but also added a NOS bottle and plumbing for the fun of it. Sheet aluminum (coke cans) rounded out some of the panels.
The engine is again a Boss 429 Pro Stock motor but with an oddly located intercooler and dual turbos and carbs down low on each side of the engine. Actually kind of like the big turbo cars run today. Since this was not a pro stock kit, I inverted the hood opening and used aluminum as inner fenders.
Opened up view of the car. Again I did not open the doors on this one BUT the body pops off to see the rolling chassis.
Just a front view of the car. I actually do own a 1988 TC now. She’s really old and worn with 200K on the clock but still fun to drive.
Another basic view…
