Back to Rebuild Page

Pulled the steering out today. Back in  the 70’s I converted the car from power steering to manual steering by replacing the drag link and I think the steering box pitman arm. The P/S pump would not handle the high spinning 302 from back then and was having problems. The drag link will be reused and has been cleaned up and painted as well as the strut rods.

Problem: Note the lower hole in the idler arm mount in the picture at the right. It is oblong possibly from the collision the car experienced back then. The frame rail is also bent in slightly there so some patch work is going to be required. That passenger side shock tower does look nasty but I do not feel I have the skills to replace it and feel the shock tower re-enforcement kit will keep it solid.
